Granddaughters Marisa & Mariah have conspired to produce an audio file featuring Mariah, (seen here in "Geek" mode) a budding singer and songwriter. Check out her "Somewhere in West Fargo."

future chef

Miss Trissa, my youngest granddaughter, is visiting me this weekend. Eight months old and already picking up the tools of the trade. How 'bout that!

the forecast is for sprinkles

The sprinkle crew, Haley & Olivia, is putting the finishing touches on my second batch of sugar cookies. Taking Nancy's advice, I pinked the white icing which gave those cookies that "come eat me" look.

The girls were given free reign with the twelve different types of sprinkles .. this cookie has "Haley" written all over it.

cookie monster's delight

23 days 'til christmas

this is not your father's clicker

Does anyone remember the original TV remote .. called a Clicker? I think it consisted of an On/Off button, and up & down surf buttons that made a funky click sound when you pushed 'em. Sound familiar?

The one pictured here is what I call an upgrade. My most recent .. got it yesterday along with my new HD receiver from Dish Network. And for 10 dollars more a month I get over 100 HD channels now .. along with all the original ones.

My High Definition Sony TV was purchased over 5 years ago .. back when HD was just something being talked about. So, after all this time, I figured it was about time to start watching some HD shows .. I gave Dish a ringy ding, and upgraded.

Imagine "Sons of Anarchy" in high def .. I recorded it this evening for viewing tomorrow morning with a cup of hot fresh coffee. The nature shows have been awesome .. and a local TV news reporter now looks twice as hot as she did before.

poor man's shrimp cocktail?

Not so much, I think. By the time these little wienies are basking in a saucy mix of ketchup, onion, bourbon whiskey, and brown sugar .. they don't seem to deserve that "Poor Man's" moniker.

About 60 oz ketchup .. 2 cups bourbon .. 2 cups brown sugar .. 1 small diced onion and 7 lbs cocktail wienies.

It's a good recipe to experiment with .. adjust to taste. I'm thinking of adding some hot chilies next time. They will be called "Hot Rockets."

fresh baked

I'm pretty sure that plate is one sugar cookie shy of a dozen. And with eight of my grandkids here at Jeff & Nancy's place today ... that leaves only three cookies for me.
