This contraption is a "Complete Body Analysis Scale." It measures weight, body fat and lean muscle mass using a process called biometric impedance analysis. That's a fancy way of saying that when one steps on the scales with bare feet a tiny electrical signal is sent through the body, thus measuring its electrical impedance (think resistance).

Priced at fifteen bucks at ALDI, it is considered a smart purchase. Besides.. I was ready for a new toy.
