Five cuppas? You're like a kid in a candy store. But I understand.
I wonder how many people add sugar to their coffee just to make it palatable. That's certainly not an issue with specialty coffees if the beans are ground just before brewing. It's a real eye opener to realize what you've been missing all those years.
The Yuban peeps, and their competitors, are not going to tell us about specialty coffees. Nor will they explain about fresh-ground beans just before brewing.
Why would they care about their product being adulterated by adults. Drink all we want.
My oldest son adds far too much sugar to a cup of coffee. My stomach would ache after drinking coffee like that. Yet, adding 'some' sugar was necessary for my taste buds.
It shall soon be a week of my coffee cuppas having only a little creamer.
Well, S[in]…, I believe I may have become a "Coffeeholic." I just brewed my 5th cuppa of the day. I think that I prefer the Guatemalan coffee to the Costa Rican; although, I enjoy both.
My next Old Bisbee Roasters order shall include a Mexican coffee, at the recommendation of e.craig. I have about one pound between the 2 coffees because I have alternated daily with each one.
Wednesday is payday. I shall go ahead and order a couple more pounds to have on hand. The idea is to have enough between paydays. Heaven forbid I should need to brew some Yuban just to have my daily coffee.
While growing up Mother drank coffee loaded with milk and sugar and as kids do, I tried a sip from time to time but was turned off when the taste hit my buds.
6 a.m., Ashville North Carolina, truck stop cafe in town, fog everywhere, very hilly, I was hitchhiking by myself from Miami Florida to Dayton Ohio, it was 1957, guy behind the counter sat a cup of black coffee in front of me. From the first drink to the last drop the coffee was delicious, my first cup of coffee, either a nickel or a dime, forget which. I like my coffee like I like my women, hot and black, lol.
Hey Cousin Rod .. your comment reminds me of how my Dad would let me dip my toast into his cup of coffee when I was a small boy. He and Mom drank it black.
I was 13 years old when I was allowed to drink my very first cup of coffee .. with cream & sugar added, as I recall. It was a chilly night at Lincoln School's fall festival. That coffee hit the spot.
I can't even remember what prompted me to buy freshly roasted beans and a burr type mill. Perhaps it was finding the Old Bisbee Roaster's web site and reading what they had to say about freshly roasted arabaca coffee beans.
Like Brother Dave's experience .. I could not believe what I had been missing. Not even Starbucks brews coffee this good.
I just now finished my classic cuppa. It was delicious.
ReplyDeleteThat was my 5th cup for today. I needed it.
I am amazed at how yummy the freshly-ground coffee brews up for a cuppa that I do not wish to add sugar to.

Back in the day a caffeine and sugar boost from cups of coffee got a lot of people through their morning.
ReplyDeleteI started liking coffee when I was in my early 30s. However, only recently have I enjoyed coffee with only a little creamer added.
