This contraption is a "Complete Body Analysis Scale." It measures weight, body fat and lean muscle mass using a process called biometric impedance analysis. The beginning of this Thanksgiving week was met with moderate nighttime temperatures accompanied by daytimes languishing in the mid 60s (F). Lots of sunshine and light breezes. The last yellow bud on our late Mother's rose bush saw the opportunity, and took advantage of it.

Warm balmy late-November days are rare here in the valley.. but not unheard of. The same thing happened a few years back, causing a hanger-on bud to bloom on Thanksgiving Day. Some say there are no coincidences, and this unusual late November blooming was not lost on me. I was convinced that Mom's loving spirit was with our family on this special day of giving thanks.

As this year's Thanksgiving Day fast approaches, another yellow rose has bloomed.

It was a Thursday to remember. June of 2001. Four young granddaughters .. Kristen, Heather, Kelsie & Mariah, invited me to accompany them to a BSB concert in Lexington. They even let me drive. But, before we left town, the girls went into "makeup mode" and transformed me into the perfect BSB groupie.

Now those same girls are planning to attend their latest concert tour in Cincinnati or Columbus. I don't remember. But I did make note of the fact that I'm not invited along this time. Of course, they have their driver licenses which they didn't have back then.

Kroger did it right when they enlarged & remodeled their south-central Kettering store. Fresh fare is certainly present here .. but the icing on the cake for me is the availability of the many ingredients for preparing so many "homemade" ethnic dishes. And a visit at midnight ensures that I can cruise, browse and pick without other shoppers crowding the aisles and impeding my progress.
